The climate in Albania

With a population of around 3 million, Albania is a country in Southeastern Europe. It is bordered by Montenegro to the northwest and Greece to the south and southeast. Lake Shkodra, which is the largest lake in the Balkans, passes through Albania and through the southwest of Montenegro. The capital city is Tirana which is also the largest city. In Albania the climate is Mediterranean , with dry, warm summers and cool, rainy winters. Snow can be seen in the high hills from November until March with low temperatures during this period in the cities close to the mountains. The average annual temperatures are between -3°C in the winter and 30°C during the summer but much lower in the mountainous regions. The average rainfall is heavy with the heaviest downpours in the central uplands. Thunderstorms are quite common here. Sometimes they can become heavy accompanied by strong winds causing damage and floods.
