The climate in Adelaide

Located on the Adelaide Plains between the Gulf St Vincent and the Mount Lofty Ranges on the country’s southern coast, Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia and has a population of over 1.2 million. The city is known for its many festivals, sporting events, food, wine, and long beachfronts. The renowned Adelaide Festival of Arts and Fringe Festival take place every year. Popular attractions include the Art Gallery of South Australia, the Adelaide Botanic Garden, and the National Wine Centre. Adelaide enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate. The average high temperature is 29°C in summer. In winter, the average high temperature is 16°C with lows near 8°C. The annual precipitation is generally around 546mm with most rainfall occurring during the winter months of June through August. Snowfall in the city centre is uncommon though frosts may occur.
