The climate in Melbourne

The capital of the state of Victoria in Australia, Melbourne is located on the Port Phillip Bay at the estuary of the Yarra River. The metropolitan area has a population of over 4.2 million and is the second most populous city in the country. The city welcomes around 15 million domestic and 1.5 million international tourists each year thanks to its wide variety of attractions, facilities, and events. Popular destinations include Federation Square, Eureka Skydeck, the Royal Exhibition Building, and the Crown Casino. The climate in Melbourne is a moderate oceanic climate. The city experiences summer days that are extremely hot. The average high temperatures are around 25°C, but there can be days where the temperature reaches over 40°C. In winter, temperatures stay mild with the average high being about 13 to 15°C. Average precipitation is 650mm a year.
