The climate in Copenhagen

Located on the eastern coast of the island of Zealand in Denmark, Copenhagen is the country’s most populous city with a population of 562,253 within the city limits. It features promenades and waterfronts. Founded in the 10th century as a Viking fishing village, it became the capital in the 15th century. Today, the capital is the cultural, economic, and governmental centre of the country. Popular attractions include the Little Mermaid Statue, the Frederiksstaden district, the old inner city, and the waterfront. Copenhagen has an oceanic climate. It has variable weather patterns in all four seasons and is highly influenced by the Atlantic Gulf Stream. The average high temperature in summer is around 20°C. In winter, the average high is about 1 to 3°C with lows around 0°C. Annual precipitation is 613mm, and snowfall may occur in the winter months.
