Located in the northeast corner of Africa, Egypt is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Gaza Strip and Israel to the northeast, the Red Sea to the east, Sudan to the south, and Libya to the west. It has a population of almost 80 million. The country has a rich and long history and is home to many famous monuments, including the pyramids and ancient ruins. The climate in Egypt is a hot arid desert one. Days are hot or warm, and nights are cool. Average daily temperatures range from 14°C in winter to 35°C in summer. At night, the temperatures are around 9°C in winter and 20°C in summer. Precipitation is very low with an annual average of 25mm. Hot and dry sandstorms can be common between March and May.
