The climate in Bordeaux

A port city on the Garonne River in the Aquitaine region of southwest France, Bordeaux is the ninth largest city in the country with a population of 242,945. The city is known for its wines which have been produced since the 8th century. Home to 32 monuments, the centre of the city has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Popular attractions include the Church of Notre Dame, Rue Sainte-Catherine, the Basilica of Saint Michel, Saint André Cathedral, and the fine arts museum. Bordeaux has an oceanic climate, but the summers are warmer and the winters are milder than many areas with this climate. Summers are warm and long thanks to the influence of the Bay of Biscay with an average high temperature of about 26°C. In winter, the average highs are around 10°C with lows near 6°C. Frosts are common during the winter months, but snow is very rare. The annual precipitation is 984mm on average.
