F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions)

About the weather content:

Where does the data for your weather forecasts come from?
Our weather forecasts are produced from a simplified weather forecast model, calculated 50 times within the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF).

How reliable are your weather forecasts?
Using the data we receive, it is possible to produce precise weather forecasts and also to calculate how reliable these forecasts are.
In order to do this, a simplified weather forecast model is calculated 50 times within the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts.
As a general rule, the model has proven to be rather reliable for forecasts up to 72 hours. Beyond this and depending on the climatic conditions at the time, some differences between the weather itself and what has been forecasted may be observed. Be careful: These forecasts are provided as information only and cannot be used for the protection of goods or people.

When are your weather forecasts updated?
Our weather forecasts are updated 3 times a day: 2.00am, 9.00am and 4.00pm.

Do you modify your weather forecasts manually?
No, no modifications are made. The weather forecasts are generated automatically.

Are some parameters more difficult to forecast than others?
The temperature and the wind can generally be forecasted for long periods ahead. Other parameters, like rain, are more difficult to predict. The most difficult are storms.
Currently, no model is capable of predicting a storm efficiently, because of the localised nature of this phenomenon and due to the factors which lead up to its creation.
