Watch out for late frost

Late frosts may still occur in May so make sure to keep vulnerable plants and new shoots protected during the night if frost is forecasted.

Don’t be tempted to put out tender bedding until the middle of the month and even then be prepared to cover it if necessary.

Acclimatise plants that have grown inside or have come directly from the nursery. A layer of horticultural fleece can be effective if the weather turns cold.
