An earthquake has been recorded today in Kent with a magnitude of 4.2 according to the British Geological Survey.  It originated close to Sandwich at 02:52AM BST in 15km underground.  Some people said that they felt as though an explosion had happened or even a plane crash. In Margate, Canterbury and the southern side of Essex people said that they felt the tremor too.

According to the police in Kent and the Kent Fire they received many phone calls but fortunately there weren’t any injuries or serious damage caused by the earthquake.

It was also recorded by “The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre” (EMSC) which monitors earthquake activities across Europe.

While many of the residents in Kent felt as though it lasted for a long period of time, it only really lasted around three to five seconds.
