Bitcoin and astrology are two trends that many folks have called out as ‘phoney’ and ‘ridiculous’ in the past.

That being said, those of us that have stuck by these two things have found the rewards plentiful. For instance, bitcoin investors found the value of their purchase jump to an almighty rate in late 2017 and many astrology fans find solace in believing their fate is written in the stars.

They are two niche areas, but ones which can be fruitful for interested parties. Up until now, their paths haven’t really crossed. It appears that is all changing though, as many folks are looking towards the sky to decide whether or not they should buy bitcoin.

According to astrology experts, we are about to see a shift in planetary positions, where Uranus moves from Aries to Taurus.

Since the planet Uranus symbolises change and revolution, many folks are predicting a serious paradigm shift. Since Taurus is an earth sign, believers think this change may come in the way of finance, agriculture or climate.

Considering that there has been some talk about traditional forms of finance changing for some time now, large numbers of astrology aficionados are interpreting this as the right opportunity to invest in bitcoin.

Investor Marcus Thomas told MarketWatch that this was a key reason for him investing in bitcoin. He said: “I knew then that astrology may not be an exact science but it has the ability to predict trends by casting a big net focusing on certain themes in present day. Uranus in Taurus — until 2026 [represents] revolutionary innovations in areas of finance, climate, banking, farming and other earth-related things.”

Former NFL player Ricky Williams shares this view. His interest in the stars led to him investing in the cryptocurrency too.

Williams told CNBC: When I look at things, I tend to look at astrology to get insight. The insight that got me interested in Bitcoin was the planet Uranus is about to enter into Taurus. (Uranus) is about revolution; it's about a change in the way we do things; it's about innovation (and Taurus) is about resources and finances.”

Williams added: "I think as people are starting to become disillusioned with our institutions, that things like blockchain and cryptocurrency, it's the perfect time for them to catch fire and really change the way we do things. So, you know, I had to get a little piece of that action.”

This sort of speculation should be taken with a large dose of scepticism, but it is nonetheless interesting to see.
