Unusual high temperatures have caused Tennis matches to stop at the Australian open tennis tournament in Melbourne. People reported that “the tennis court was like a sauna”!

Melbourne is currently experiencing many consecutive days of heat with temperatures rising above 40°C.

The Australian Open organizers have put in place an Extreme heat policy. Outside matches are being suspended while matches at Rod Laver Arena and Hisense Arena will continue with a closed roof.

The unbearable heat caused a tennis player and a ball boy to faint.

Meanwhile, several fire emergency warnings have been issued as fires in the Northern Grampians area became an out of control bushfire, urging residents to be evacuated.

It has been reported by the Climate Council that this heat wave and climate change in general might be caused by greenhouse gases.
