More rain is expected today and over the weekend. The Environment Agency has issued more than 160 heavy flood alerts in Southern England.

In addition to rain come strong winds of up to 70 mph in the South. Travel disruption and speed restrictions will be put in place from this evening, most of it in Somerset which is already underwater. Gales and big waves are also expected in large parts of Cornwall, Somerset and Bristol.

Forecasters said more wet weather is likely to happen this weekend and next week. Wales and Dartmoor will see most of the rain today with 30 to 40 mm of rain falling.

Saturday is likely to be the worst day with really strong winds and gales of up to 70 mph might occur along the coasts of the south west, Devon, Cornwall and Wales.
