The dress, the rings and of course, the cake. Those are three things that are essential to any wedding  - whether it's the most modest of events or the wedding of a prince and future princess, these things have to be taken care of.

Thankfully Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven't forgotten about any of that, as the couple have chosen the pastry chef for their big day.

On Tuesday, it was announced that pastry chef Claire Ptak from London-based Violet Bakery will be in charge of ensuring the couple have a scrumptious cake for their big day.

Ptak expressed her delight at being chosen for such an honour. She said: "I can't tell you how delighted I am to be chosen to make Prince Harry and Ms. Markle's wedding cake. Knowing that they really share the same values as I do about food provenance, sustainability, seasonality and most importantly flavor makes this the most exciting event to be a part of."

Kensington Palace even shared some of the details regarding what type of cake Harry and Meghan are choosing. KP tweeted: "Prince Harry and Ms. Markle have asked Claire to create a lemon elderflower cake that will incorporate the bright flavors of sprin. It will be covered with buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers."

We don't know about you guys, but we think that sounds like it will taste almost as beautiful as it will look.

Meghan and Ptak have a little bit of history, as the actress has previously interviewed the chef for her blog - The Tig. In that article, Meghan wrote that she was "fan girling mighty hard over Ms. Claire." It seems that affinity has stood the test of time.

Kensington Palace gave several more details about the style of the chef, stating that Ptak "focuses on using seasonal and organic ingredients in her cakes."

Violet Bakery posted about the appointment on their Instagram, writing:  "Kinda excited to announce this one!! Violet has been chosen to make the wedding cake for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle @kensingtonroyal. They both share so many of the same values regarding food provenance, sustainability, seasonality and of course flavor! Xxx."

We get stressed when we are making cupcakes, so we can only imagine how stressful it will be for Ptak baking and designing a cake that will be viewed by the whole world. Nonetheless, we are sure that it will be a wonderful inventive cake and one we certainly can't wait to view.

We are already licking our lips in anticipation.
