There’s another Royal wedding just around the corner and we couldn’t be happier for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The couple, who started dating around 18 months ago, are set to give William and Kate a run for the money in the race for ‘most celebrated Royal wedding.’

In November last year, Kensington Palace released a statement confirming what many of us predicted; that Harry had proposed to the Suits actress and she had said ‘yes.’

Here’s everything you need to know about the engagement…

How did Harry propose?

It has been confirmed that William’s younger brother popped the question in London while the beautiful couple were cooking dinner.

In an interview with Sky News shortly after, they revealed even more details. Meghan said: "We were roasting chicken. It was just an amazing surprise. It was so sweet and natural and very romantic. He got down on one knee,” while Harry added: “It was a really nice moment—it was just the two of us. I think I managed to catch her by surprise.”

The Prince added that Meghan didn’t even want him to finish asking: “She didn't even let me finish, she said 'can I say yes, can I say yes' and then there was hugs.”

Who knew?

According to various reports, very few insiders were clued up on Harry and Meghan’s engagement before the pair announced it. Apparently, William only found out after the proposal and Harry didn’t even tell his father, Charles, until Meghan said yes.

On Meghan’s side, only her parents knew, prior to the official statement.

All about the ring

Meghan’s beautiful ring is sure to set trends for couples around the world getting ready to tie the knot. The beautiful piece was made by Cleave and Company, Court Jewellers and Medallists to Her Majesty The Queen.

Its centre diamond hails from Botswana, a country which Harry regularly returns. It also has two diamonds from Princess Diana’s personal collection; a wonderful nod to the Prince’s late mother.

The couple feels Princess Diana is with them today: During their interview, Prince Harry shared that he thinks his mom and Meghan would've been "thick as thieves" and "best friends."

Diana would have been ecstatic

In the immediate aftermath of the announcement, Harry shared that he wished he could share this moment with the late Princess Diana. In a wide-ranging interview with Sky News he said: "You know it is days like - days like today when - when I really miss having her around and miss being able to share the happy news.

He later agreed with his future wife when she said:  "I'm sure she's with us yeah, you know, jumping up and down somewhere else.”

We are sure Diana would have been very proud of her boy and we are delighted to see the pair so happy in anticipation of their big day. Without a doubt, it’s going to be a special day for Harry and Meghan that the whole world will have their eyes on.
