We've touched on podcasts, books and even songs that are based upon astrology.

However, did you know that there are also quite a few movies that have some basis in the study of the stars?

The star signs don't seem like an interesting subject for a movie plot, but more than a few flicks have focused on them as an essential part of their story.

Thus, without further ado, here are a list of movies that have some connection to astrology... and no, the 2007 thriller 'Zodiac' isn't one of them.

The Chinese Zodiac

Jackie Chan stars in this movie which is based on the birth of Chinese astrology.

FilmAboutIt.Com describe it as a film about "a mercenary team (who) recover... the bronze heads of the 12 Chinese Zodiac animals which were sacked by the French and British armies from the imperial Summer Palace in Beijing in 1860."

That certainly sounds interesting to us and who doesn't love Jack Chan?

Five Star Day

It won't go down as a classic movie by any means, but Five Star Day does give an interesting take on astrology.

It is the story of a man who is on a mission to discredit astrology, but this aim leads him to several interesting life discoveries. It's a rather typical rom-com, with a star-based twist.

Ironically for a movie about astrology, it doesn't actually have any real stars in it.

The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh

This movie is a little bit crazy. If you don't believe us, check out its trailer on Youtube.

Then again, the seventies were a different time.

A brief synopsis of the film goes something like this - "The Pittsburgh basketball team is hopeless. Maybe with the aid of an astrologer and some new astrologically compatible players, they can become winners."

It's even wackier than it sounds. A lot of fun though.

Darren Aronofsky is the filmmaker that brought us the likes of Black Swan and Requiem for a Dream. However, a little movie called Pi was his first feature.

In this movie, a mathematician tries to figure out the mysteries of the world based on several variables, including the stars. He then believes he can predict the future through these formulas - if that sounds an awful lot like astrology, that's probably because it is.

When Were You Born

Movies were different back in the 30s and this is the perfect example of that. Somehow, we can't imagine a movie about an astrologer who correctly predicts a ship crash and then solves murders being made today? Can you?

However if it was, we would definitely want to see Ethan Hawke take the lead role!
