The torrential rains that hit Russia late July have recently caused unprecedented floods, with the rise of the river Amour that came out of its river bed to reach a high level of 6m, a record since the late 1800’s.
Thousands of people have had to be evacuated. While the inhabitants are still waiting for new measures and improvements, authorities are expecting a new record for the cost of the damage. A cost of 200 million euros has already been predicted just for the agricultural losses.
The Philippines’ capital city, Manilla, still has its feet deep in the water. The monsoon associated with the passing of a tropical storm, caused severe flooding. Local authorities reported a few people missing and at least eight dead. The city is still paralysed and will remain soaked for several weeks.
