Yesterday, a terrible winter storm struck the Northeast of the USA. From New York to the Canadian border, millions of people braced themselves for the potential historic storm. Governors of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island have declared states of emergency.

The snow is still falling on some of the major cities of the East coast. Boston is expected to receive some of the highest snowfall and New York City, the city that never sleeps, now seems deserted.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio ordered all non-essential drivers off the city's roads after 11 p.m. yesterday. Schools in the area are closed at least until Wednesday and many people have stocked up on food and other essentials before the arrival of the storm.

But it’s not only the snow. Strong winds and coastal flooding are not to be overlooked. Power outages are also expected and more than 6 500 flights have been cancelled.

Let's hope that this blizzard will be over soon!
