It’s hard to think of Paris and not have the Eiffel Tower come to mind. Could you imagine the city without its most iconic landmark? Built for the 1889 World’s Fair on the Champ de Mars, it was supposed to be dismantled 20 years later. However, the iron beauty proved useful for communication purposes and was allowed to remain.

The tower has three levels for visitors. At 915.7 ft, its third level observatory’s upper platform is the highest accessible to the public in the EU and provides some truly spectacular views. You can go up to the first two levels by lift or by stairs (the third is only be lift). Access by stairs is cheaper, but make sure you’re prepared for the 704 steps!

If you’re looking for a spot to take a good photo of the entire iron lady, head to the end of the Champs de Mars or climb the steps of Trocadero. The Pont d’Alma is further away but allows you to snap pictures from a bridge over the Seine and capture the tower in all of her glory.
