Monaco’s climate

Located on the French Riviera, Monaco is a sovereign city-state that is bordered by France and the Mediterranean Sea. It has a population of over 36,000 and is the second smallest country in the world with an area of .78 square miles. The principality has the highest GDP per capita in the world and is a major centre for banking and tourism. Popular attractions include the Monte Carlo Casino, the Oceanographic Museum, the Opera House, and the coastline. The Monaco Grand Prix and Monaco Carlo Rally are popular racing events held each year. The principality has a warm-summer Mediterranean climate characterised by warm, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. The average high temperature in summer is around 25°C. Temperatures above 30°C are rare as constant sea breezes are present. The average high temperature in winter is about 12°C with lows near 8°C. Frosts and snow are very uncommon. The average annual precipitation is 768mm with most falling between the months of October and March.
