Les Vosges are a mountain range in the north eastern part of France. Its ridge line marks the border between Alsace and Lorraine which resulted from the annexation of the German Empire in 1871.
The highest summits are the 'Ballons' with a rounded shape and the highest of them is the Ballon d'Alsace that reaches 1424m.
The mountain range offers seven ski resorts made up of 93 ski lifts, 10 chair lifts, 120 km of runs, 2 snowboard stadiums, 350 snow canons and 350 km of cross country skiing.
Skiiers can ski from dawn onwards on the 3 ski areas and night time skiing is also a possibility thanks to various slopes lit up for the purpose. A Nordic ski area allows the discovery of the surrounding landscape through forests, lakes, peat bogs or plateaus.
