The climate in Auckland

Situated between the Kauraki Gulf of the Pacific Ocean to the east, the Hunua Ranges to the southeast, the Manukau Harbour to the southwest, and the Waitakere Ranges to the west and southwest, Auckland is the largest and most populous urban area in New Zealand with a population of 1.4 million. The city also has the largest Polynesian population in the world. The area was first settled around 1350, and today, it is known for its high quality of living. The city sits upon the Auckland volcanic field. Popular tourist attractions include the Civic Theatre, Harbour Bridge, the town hall, and the War Memorial Museum. The city has a warm temperate climate with warm, humid summers and mild, damp winters. The average high temperature in summer is about 23 to 24°C. In winter, it is around 15°C with lows near 7°C. The average annual rainfall is about 1,240mm.
