The climate in Oslo

Founded by King Harald III, Oslo is the capital of Norway with a rising population of 623,900 inhabitants. It is a famous cultural city featuring numerous museums, galleries and cultural centres such as the National Museum and the Munch Museum home to the well-known painting “The Scream”. Oslo has many green areas and parks within and around the city. The capital of Norway has a great architectural diversity. It has a humid continental climate. Despite its northern location, the climate doesn’t get extremely cold in winter due to the onshore air masses. In the city, daylight varies from 18 hours in summer to 6 in winter. In summertime, it is almost rarely dark and the average temperature is 23°C. Winters are cold with temperatures between -7°C and -1°C, accompanied by a lot of snowfall.
