The climate in Moscow

Located on the Moskva River in European Russia, Moscow is the capital of the country and is the most populous with a population of over 11.5 million. The city is known for its architecture. Popular landmarks include Saint Basil’s Cathedral, Novodevichy Convent, Ostankino Palace, Moscow Kremlin, and Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. The Old Arbat Street, a street that used to be at the heart of the bohemian area, is a popular street for tourists. Moscow has a humid continental climate characterised by warm, humid summers and long, cold winters. The average high temperatures in summer are between 22 and 24°C. In winter, the average high is about -4°C with lows near -9°C. Annual precipitation is about 707mm.
