Serbia is a country located in the Balkans, in Southern Europe. It is surrounded by Montenegro to the south, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the west, Bulgaria to the southeast, Croatia to the northwest, Hungary to the north, Macedonia and Albania (through Kosovo) to the south, and Romania to the northeast. Serbia counts a population of 7.2 million people and Belgrade is its capital and the largest city. The country has natural springs, rivers and lakes. Serbia, besides the fantastic natural attractions, is also known for its food and great wines. The climate in Serbia varies from one place to another. In the north it is continental with cold winters and hot, humid summers and distributed rainfall. In the south the climate is continental and Mediterranean and along the coast it is Adriatic with hot, dry summers and autumns and cold winters with heavy snowfall inland. Inland, the average temperature in summer ranges between 18°C and 19°C.
