The climate in La Palma

Located off the coast of Morocco, La Palma is one of the seven isles of the Canary Islands and it is also the most north-westerly island. San Miguel de La Palma counts a population of 86,000 and 18,000 live in the capital, Santa Cruz de La Palma. This volcanic ocean island is not well known by tourists though it offers unspoilt beautiful scenery as 35% of the land has been declared a protected area with stunning night skies. Indeed, the ?Star Island?, the nickname of the island, has one of the clearest skies in the world and is home to the astronomical observatory Roque de los Muchachos. Stargazers, nature lovers and photographers will absolutely love this hidden Spanish treasure. With average temperatures ranging from 18°C to 25°C all year round, the climate is ideal and sunny at all times. During the summer months, rain is very rare but annual rainfall in La Palma is higher than in the other Canary Islands.
