The climate in Madrid

Located in the centre of Spain on the Manzanares River, Madrid is the capital of the country and has a population of over 3.2 million. The city is a major financial centre for Southern Europe and has strong influences in politics, education, entertainment, environment, fashion, and the media. Popular attractions include the Royal Palace of Madrid, the Teatro Real, the Golden Triangle of Art, and the Buen Retiro Park. The climate in Madrid is a Mediterranean one. Winters are cool with some snowfall and below freezing temperatures. Summers are warm to hot with average temperatures above 30°C. The annual precipitation is about 430mm with most rain falling in the autumn and spring months.
