The climate in Valencia

Located on the east coast of the Iberian Peninsula on the banks of the Turia and the Mediterranean Sea, Valencia is the third largest city in Spain with a population of 809,000 in the city centre and 2.5 million in the metropolitan area. With one of the largest historic centres in Spain, the city is full of ancient monuments and cultural attractions including the Valencia Cathedral, the Torres de Serranos, the City of Arts and Sciences, and many museums. There is also a long promenade found along the beaches on the north side of the port. The city is at the borderline of Mediterranean and semi-arid climates. Valencia’s climate is characterised by mild winters and long warm to hot summers. The average high temperature in the winter is about 17°C with lows near 7°C. In summer, the average high temperature is 29°C. The annual precipitation is 454mm with summer having the driest months.
