Tanzania with its official capital of Dodoma, is a country in East Africa within the African Great Lakes region. It is bordered by Kenya and Uganda to the north and Mozambique to the south. In northeastern Tanzania can be found Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. Tanzania counts a population of 44.9 million with numerous of differences concerning ethnic, linguistic, and religious groups. It has a tropical climate which varies between regions. During the year the average temperatures are between 10 and 20 °C in the highlands and around 20 °C in the rest of the country. In Tanzania, the hottest period is between November and February with temperatures between 25°C and 31 °C and the coldest period is between May and August. The rainfall in the north and east occurs over two periods with short bursts of rainfall rains from October to December and long rainfall from March to May.
