Ukraine is a country located in Eastern Europe. It has an area of 603,628 km², making it the largest country entirely within Europe. The coastline on the Black Sea is a popular summer destination for vacationers. Ukraine has vineyards where they produce native wines, ruins of ancient castles, historical parks, Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant churches as well as a few mosques and synagogues. Kyiv, the country's capital city has many unique structures such as Saint Sophia Cathedral and broad boulevards. The country is home to 46 million people. Ukrainian is the official language of Ukraine. Russian is also widely spoken. The dominant religion in the country is Eastern Orthodox Christianity, which has strongly influenced Ukrainian architecture, literature and music. It features a mostly temperate continental climate. Precipitation is disproportionately distributed; it is highest in the west and north and lowest in the east and southeast. Winters vary from cool along the Black Sea to cold farther inland. Average annual temperatures range from 5.5 °C in the north, to 11 °C –13 °C in the south.
