The weather and climate in Cardiff

Cardiff, the Capital and largest city in Wales, has a population of around 346 000 people. It is the tenth largest city in the UK. The Capital is very popular with tourists and was voted, by the National Geographic, the sixth best alternative tourist destination in the world. Cardiff is home to many sports stadiums and has hosted many major international sporting events. Cardiff centre is relatively flat but is surrounded by hills on the outskirts. Cardiff has an essentially maritime climate. This is characterised by mild temperatures coupled with cloudy, wet and windy weather. Summers can be fairly sunny and warm with temperatures ranging between 19°C and 22°C. Winters are usually rather wet but with temperatures generally remaining above freezing. The Capital City is less rainy than Wales in general.
