Found at the confluence of the rivers Eden, Caldrew, and Petteril in the county of Cumbria in North West England, Carlisle is the largest town in the county with a population of 71,773. The town began as a Roman settlement, and today is the cultural, commercial, and industrial centre for north Cumbria.
