As it is located in the geographic heart of England, in terms of temperature, it has a transitional climate between northern and southern England and in terms of rainfall, between Wales and eastern England. Winters are cold and wet and sometimes frosty with the coldest months in January and February. In winter, minimum temperatures are around 0°C and maximum temperatures around 7°C. Located in the county of West Midlands in England, Coventry has a population of over 315,000. It is further from the coast than any other city in Britain. Coventry also lays claim to being the world’s first twin city when it formed a twinning relationship during the Second World War with Stalingrad (now Volgograd), Russia.
