Edinburgh has a temperate maritime climate. Winters are fairly mild with daytime temperatures rarely falling below freezing. Summers are fairly moderate with temperatures rarely exceeding 22°C. Given Edinburgh’s situation between the coast and the hills, it is renowned as being a windy city.
