Exeter, situated on the River Exe in the county of Devonshire in south west England is the capital city of Devon. Home to the magnificent Exeter Cathedral, it attracts many tourists from all over the world. It has both a temperate and maritime climate with mild temperatures throughout the year and damp weather, particularly in December and January. In winter, average maximum temperatures are around 10°C and minimum temperatures around 3°C. Overnight frosts are frequent and between January and February, snow occasionally falls although rarely settles. Summers can be quite warm and can top 30°C although in general temperatures average at a maximum of 25°C and average minimum temperatures are around 13°C.

In the ceremonial county of Devon in South West England, Exeter is a Roman fortified settlement on the River Exe that has a population of 120,000. The city’s origins most likely date back to Celtic times with the Romans then arriving around AD 50. The Exeter Cathedral was founded in the early 12th century and is a popular attraction today. Other popular locations include St. Nicolas Priory, the Exeter Synagogue, the ruins of Rougemont Castle, the Butts Ferry, and the Northernhay Gardens. Exeter’s climate provides cool wet winters and warm summers. Temperatures in summer are around 19 to 21°C. In winter, they are about 8°C with lows around 2°C. Average annual precipitation is about 764mm.
