The climate in Newcastle upon Tyne

Situated on the north bank of the River Tyne, this city in North East England has a population of 279,000. Newcastle upon Tyne is a centre for business, higher education, digital technology, retail, tourism, and culture. The historic heart of Newcastle is Grainger Town with some of the city’s finest buildings and streets including the Theatre Royal and Grainger Market. This British city has an oceanic climate. It is milder than other cities at the same latitude thanks to the warming influence of the Gulf Stream. Its average high temperatures are around 19°C in summer and 6°C in winter. Newcastle is among the driest cities in the UK with an annual precipitation of 650mm.
