Found on the North Atlantic coast of Cornwall in South West England, Newquay is a town, civil parish, seaside resort, and fishing port bounded by the River Gannel on the west. It has a population of 19,562. The town is a popular tourist destination thanks to its nine long sandy beaches. Newquay is also known as the surf capital of the UK. It is also home to the Trenance Leisure Gardens and a zoo. The climate of Newquay is a maritime one characterised by cool summers and mild winters. The average high temperatures in summer are around 19°C. In winter, the average high temperature is 8°C with lows near 3°C. Annual precipitation is 1,046mm with rain falling year-round.
