Northampton, is a large market town situated in the county of Northamptonshire in the East Midlands. It lies in the geographic heart of England and has a maritime climate that is transitional between northern and southern England in terms of temperature and between Wales and eastern England in terms of rainfall. January is the coldest month of the year with an average minimum temperature of 1°C and a maximum temperature of around 6°C. The lowest temperature ever recorded in the city was in February 1986 when temperatures fell to -16.8°C. The warmest month is in July with an average maximum temperature of 21°C and a minimum temperature of 11°C.
