The climate in Peterborough

Found on the River Nene in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire in the East of England, Peterborough has a population of 184,500. The city is situated on flat, low-lying land and is below sea level in some places. People originally settled on the land during the Bronze Age. Formerly an industrial centre, today, the city offers jobs in financial services and distribution. Popular attractions in Peterborough include the cathedral, Burghley House, Flag Fen, and Longthorpe Tower. Peterborough’s climate is a maritime one characterised by cool summers and mild winters. In summer, the city experiences average high temperatures between 19 and 22°C. In winter, high temperatures are around 7°C with lows near 1°C. Average annual precipitation is 609mm.
