The climate in Portsmouth

Found on the coast in Hampshire in South East England, Portsmouth is the only island city in the United Kingdom. It has a population of 205,400, making it the second largest in its county. Portsmouth has been an important naval port for centuries and has the world’s oldest dry dock still in use. The main tourist attractions are related to the city’s naval history. They include the Historic Dockyard, the D-Day museum, and several ships such as the HMS Victory, the Mary Rose, and HMS Warrior, Britain’s first iron-hulled warship. Portsmouth’s climate is milder than the surrounding area with snow and frost quite rare. The average highs in winter are 9 to 10°C, and in summer, they are around 19 to 22°C. Plymouth also receives more annual sunshine than most of the UK.
