Lying on the River Severn in the County of Shropshire in England, Shrewsbury is the county town of Shropshire and has a population of 70,000. The town’s 600 historic listed buildings are part of the large medieval street plan in this market town. Founded in the 11th century, Shrewsbury Castle, the Shrewsbury Abbey and a red sandstone fortification are three amazing unaltered buildings, very popular with visitors. The town is famous for the Shrewsbury Flower Show, England’s largest horticultural event. In 2006, it won the Britain in Bloom award.
