The climate in Swanage

Located on the coast at the eastern end of the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset in South West England, Swanage is a coastal town and civil parish with a population of 10,124. Originally, the town was a small port and fishing village. It later became a seaside resort and remains popular today. Visitors are attracted by the town’s bay, its white sandy beaches, and other attractions such as the steam railway and the Victorian pier. Swanage has a maritime climate characterised by warm summers and cool winters. The average high temperature in summer is 20°C with night time lows around 13°C. In winter, the average high temperatures are about 8°C with lows near 3.5°C. Average annual precipitation is 807mm with October through January having the highest levels of rainfall.
