The climate in Chicago

Located in Northeast Illinois on the southwest shore of Lake Michigan in the United States, Chicago is one of the largest cities in the country with a population of 2.7 million in the city centre and over 9.4 million in the metropolitan area. Known as the Windy City, Chicago attracts many foreign and domestic tourists each year thanks to its waterfront location and nightlife. Popular attractions include Grant Park, the Magnificent Mile of Michigan Avenue, the Loop, Navy Pier, the Chicago Water Tour, Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower), and numerous museums. Chicago has a humid continental climate with wet springs, hot and humid summers, pleasant autumns, and cold winters. The average high temperature in summer is around 28°C. In winter it is near 0°C with lows near -10°C. Annual precipitation is 909mm with rain (and snow in winter) falling throughout the year.
